The Retro Lunch Show with Pottsie is presented on our station every Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday from 10:30 to 11:30 in the morning. It is also part of our All 80's Weekend with webcasts from 12 noon to 1 p.m. every Saturday and Sunday. (All times Pacific.)

80's Meltdown can be heard on our station every Monday morning from 10 to 12 noon and every Thursday (an encore presentation) from 4 to 6 p.m. (All times Pacific.)

Christmas... New Year

Aside from the 2 to 3 Christmas songs per hour that I programmed in - there wasn't really anything special happened around Christmas. This past year (2005) for some strange reason I suddenly got burnt out of Christmas songs and I was not really in the mood to play it 24 hours a day, even for just one day.

So what's new for 2006?

Well, following the footsteps of MTV2, CSPAN2, Jaws 2 - you got the idea - we now have two streams. Yes, two channels of Sleepy Cat Records. Sleepy Cat Records II plays only 80's music, commercial (PSA) free, 24/7. It's streaming only on Shoutcast - do a search on "sleepy cat" and you'll see the second stream.

Our station is now charted!! Radio Wave is scanning our station (Station I) and charting our current and recurrents weekly. Check here. We'll be having a weekly Top Hits Countdown soon. Hopefully.

New music: album tracks by Anna Nalick, Rolling Stones, Rob Thomas, and Depeche Mode, plus the Pick Hit of the Week: "Because of You" by Kelly Clarkson.

Station Relocation

The Sleepy Cat Records Studios will be relocating from Diamond Bar to the High Desert. During the relocation period the station will be broadcasting in Basic Mode with a minimal alternate playlist. All special programming will be cancelled.

Relocation will take place between April 26 to May 26, at the latest.

Newscast Schedule

After some struggling with the programming software, I have finally come up with a relatively stable program for the newscast provided by Jennifer Steele and the 247 Radio Group.

The newscast will air hourly between 5:30 a.m. and 10:30 a.m., somewhere between :15 and :30, Monday through Friday.

A long time ago we used to wrap up each hour with a classic TV theme. It kicks up the nostalgia factor. We are going to put it back and see how it sounds with the format we have today.

We are still figuring out where to program the weekday newscast with a minimum amount of interruptions.

Quite a morning

Everything that could go wrong, did go wrong. I'm just glad that we are still broadcasting:

Came in the office at 5:30 a.m. and found that the station wasn't broadcasting. DSL was disconnected at home. I dared not to wake up the Duty Engineer. The station came back at 7:15 a.m.
I was having some success programming the newscast, since it has to be pulled off the internet. It was fine up until right before 11 a.m., when the playlist started to advance on its own. So we are now broadcasting on Mountain Time. @#$%^&.

No more news - UPDATE

Jen Steele informed her clients that the "free" news won't be free after all. Therefore we will no longer carry it on the station.

24/7 Radio Group is providing daily news update with Jennifer Steele, which can be heard on our station several times a day. Look for it at hourly between 5 and 9 a.m., then 11 a.m. and 1 p.m.
